Family-owned and operated since 1953, Bylands has grown from humble beginnings into a trusted part of the Okanagan gardening community. Across generations, Bylands has remained committed to growing quality plants while embracing new ideas, innovative growing practices, and sustainable solutions for the future. Our roots are in tradition, but our vision continues to grow.

Growing For Generations Since 1953

Bylands' story began in 1953, when Adrian Byland arrived in Canada from Holland, bringing with him a family tradition of nursery growing that dated back to the 1700s. Just three years later, Adrian and his wife Katie purchased their first 12 acres near Kelowna and began growing fruit trees for the local orchard industry.

What started with a small 200-square-foot shed grew into a premier gardening destination in the Okanagan. Today, Bylands Nurseries encompasses hundreds of acres and grows millions of plants each year. Through changing generations and decades of growth, Bylands has remained a family-run business, with two generations working together and a deep connection to growing, gardening and our local community.

Bylands continues to grow with a seasonal second garden centre on K.L.O. Road in Kelowna, offering Bylands-grown nursery plants, houseplants, seasonal annuals and the garden essentials you need to grow with confidence. While we’ve come a long way from that original little shed, our roots remain the same: family, quality, and a passion for growing beautiful things.
